Editorial Policy

This page sets out how entries on Aiforpra get researched, written, tested and corrected, so you know what to expect from any page on the site.

What a recipe must include

  • Measured quantities, the equipment actually needed, and numbered steps meant to be followed in sequence.
  • Prep and cook times built around a realistic home kitchen, not a professional line.
  • A clear explanation — in the recipe or in a linked technique note — for any step that's easy to botch: batter texture, oil temperature, fermentation timing.
  • Mistakes to avoid, substitutions, and spice adjustments, included only where they're genuinely useful rather than padded in.

Regional and historical accuracy

India's snack and street-food traditions cover many separate regional cuisines, and this library keeps them separate rather than flattening them into one national cuisine. Each origin section reflects what's reasonably well documented or widely agreed on among food writers and historians. Where an origin is disputed, claimed by more than one region, or simply unverifiable, the entry says so directly instead of forcing a single confident answer.

No invented nutrition or health claims

Calorie counts, macro breakdowns and other nutrition data aren't published here, because none of it has been independently lab-tested for these specific recipes, and presenting a guess as fact would mislead readers. Ingredients aren't described as having specific medical benefits for the same reason. Traditional or cultural beliefs about an ingredient can be mentioned as exactly that — a belief — but never framed as medical advice.

Safe handling

Recipes built around raw meat, poultry, dairy, eggs or deep frying carry the relevant safety notes: internal temperatures, handling steps, storage windows. Unsafe oil reuse — reheating repeatedly past the smoke point, storing it badly — is never recommended.

Images

Photography on this site is either shot specifically for it or properly licensed; nothing is hot-linked from elsewhere. A dish without finished photography gets a designed placeholder instead of a stock or unrelated image, so no page misrepresents what the finished food actually looks like.

No invented reviews or endorsements

User reviews, star ratings, and quotes attributed to chefs or home cooks don't appear on this site. Nothing here should read as an endorsement from a named person unless that person and the circumstances are real and checkable.

Corrections and updates

Readers flag a wrong fact, a bad measurement, or a disputed regional claim through the Corrections page. Each report gets checked against the original entry and, where it matters, against outside sources before anything is changed. A genuine, well-supported disagreement over regional variation usually gets resolved by adding context, not by deleting one version in favor of another.
